Purpose
The purpose of this privacy policy (this "Privacy Policy") is to inform users of our Site of the following:
- The personal data we will collect;
- Use of collected data;
- Who has access to the data collected; and
- The rights of Site users.
This Privacy Policy applies in addition to the terms and conditions of our Site.
GDPR
For users in the European Union, we adhere to the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016, known as the General Data Protection Regulation (the "GDPR"). For users in the United Kingdom, we adhere to the GDPR as enshrined in the Data Protection Act 2018.
Consent
By using our Site users agree that they consent to:
- The conditions set out in this Privacy Policy.
When the legal basis for us processing your personal data is that you have provided your consent to that processing, you may withdraw your consent at any time. If you withdraw your consent, it will not make processing which we completed before you withdrew your consent unlawful.
You can withdraw your consent by: Contacting deletions@homecadence.co.uk.
Legal Basis for Processing
We collect and process personal data about users in the EU only when we have a legal basis for doing so under Article 6 of the GDPR.
We rely on the following legal bases to collect and process the personal data of users in the EU:
- Users have provided their consent to the processing of their data for one or more specific purposes;
- Processing of user personal data is necessary for us or a third party to pursue a legitimate interest. Our legitimate interest is not overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of users. Our legitimate interest(s) are: Connecting users with business who will provide the agreed home services.; and
- Processing of user personal data is necessary for us to take, at the request of a user, steps before entering a contract or for the performance of a contract to which a user is a party. If a user does not provide the personal data necessary to perform a contract the consequences are as follows: Providers will be unable to contact and visit premises to facilitate delivery of services.
Personal Data We Collect
We only collect data that helps us achieve the purpose set out in this Privacy Policy. We will not collect any additional data beyond the data listed below without notifying you first.
Data Collected in a Non-Automatic Way
We may also collect the following data when you perform certain functions on our Site:
- First and last name;
- Email address;
- Phone number;
- Address; and
- Payment information.
This data may be collected using the following methods:
- Account creation;
- Property creation;
- Payment method creation; and
- A Provider application.
Data Collected from Prospective Providers
If you apply to offer services through HomeCadence, you give us your details before you hold an account with us. A Provider application collects:
- The services you offer;
- The postcode you work from and how far you are willing to travel;
- Your business name;
- Your first and last name;
- Your phone number, if you give us one; and
- Your email address, at the final step.
We save each step as you finish it, so a partially completed application is stored even if you never reach the end of the form. That is what lets you come back later and carry on where you left off rather than start again, and — where you have asked us to — what lets us follow the application up by hand. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in recruiting Providers to the marketplace, and, from the point you ask us to send you a sign-in link, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
We also record where the application came from: the campaign parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content) and the Meta click identifier (fbclid) carried by the link you followed, where there are any. Those are read from the web address you arrived on. We do not use any tracking software on the Site to work out where you came from.
Data Collected When You Join the Waitlist
If you search for a provider and nobody covers your postcode yet, we offer to tell you when somebody does. Joining that waitlist collects:
- Your email address;
- The postcode you searched; and
- The service you were looking for.
We use those three things for one purpose: to email you once, when a provider offering that service starts covering that postcode. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in building the marketplace in the places people are actually asking for it. You can ask us to remove you at any time by emailing deletions@homecadence.co.uk.
As with a Provider application, we also record where the join came from: the campaign parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content) and the Meta click identifier (fbclid) carried by the link you followed, where there are any. Those are read from the web address you arrived on. We do not use any tracking software on the Site to work out where you came from.
Consent to Being Contacted About an Application
At the final step of a Provider application we ask, in a box that is optional and unticked to begin with, whether you consent to being contacted about your application. That consent covers one thing: somebody from HomeCadence getting in touch by email, phone or text about the application you started, including where you left it unfinished. It is not consent to marketing about anything else, and we do not pass your details to anyone else for their marketing.
The sign-in link we email you at that step is not marketing and is sent whether or not you tick the box — it is the credential you need in order to finish setting up your account.
You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing deletions@homecadence.co.uk. We will stop contacting you about the application, and will delete the application itself if you ask us to. Withdrawing your consent does not make contact that happened before you withdrew it unlawful.
How We Use Personal Data
Data collected on our Site will only be used for the purposes specified in this Privacy Policy or indicated on the relevant pages of our Site. We will not use your data beyond what we disclose in this Privacy Policy.
The data we collect when the user performs certain functions may be used for the following purposes:
- Communication and facilitation of home services; and
- Recruiting and setting up Providers, including following up on an application that was never finished where the applicant consented to being contacted about it.
Who We Share Personal Data With
Employees
We may disclose user data to any member of our organisation who reasonably needs access to user data to achieve the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.
Third Parties
We may share user data with the following third parties:
- Home services providers, only those agreed by user; and
- Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, for measuring our advertising, as described below.
We may share the following user data with third parties:
- Agreed property and contact details.
We may share user data with third parties for the following purposes:
- Service delivery.
Third parties will not be able to access user data beyond what is reasonably necessary to achieve the given purpose.
Meta, for Advertising Measurement
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram, and we need to know which of those adverts actually led anywhere. To work that out we tell Meta Platforms Ireland Limited when a Provider application is started, when it reaches the email step, and when it is finished, along with the details the applicant has given us by that point: email address, first and last name, phone number, postcode and country. Where the applicant arrived from a Meta advert we also send back the click identifier that was on that link.
We tell Meta the same way when somebody joins the waitlist, along with the email address and the postcode that join collected, and the country. A waitlist join collects no name and no phone number, so there is none to send. Where the visitor arrived from a Meta advert we also send back the click identifier that was on that link.
Those details are hashed before they leave our servers, using the one-way SHA-256 hash Meta requires, so that Meta can match them against people it already knows without receiving them in a readable form. We only send fields that were actually filled in — a field left blank is left out rather than sent empty.
This happens server-to-server, through Meta's Conversions API. There is no Meta pixel, no advertising cookie and no tracking script on the Site: nothing in your browser talks to Meta, and Meta is not told which pages you looked at.
Our lawful basis for this sharing is our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) of the UK GDPR: we cannot run an advertising campaign responsibly, or stop spending on adverts that do not work, without knowing which of them produced an application or a waitlist join. Weighed against that interest, the sharing is limited to details you gave us for the purpose of applying or of joining, those details are hashed rather than sent in the clear, no record of your browsing is included, and nothing about you is decided automatically from it. We are not relying on your consent for this, and it is separate from the consent to be contacted about your application — declining that box does not change this measurement, and this measurement is not marketing contact.
Because our basis is legitimate interests, you have the right to object to it. Email deletions@homecadence.co.uk and we will stop sending Meta anything about your application or your waitlist join. Meta decides for itself how it uses the matched data within its own advertising system, and that use is governed by Meta's privacy policy; Meta's own terms for these tools may involve your data being transferred outside the United Kingdom, under the safeguards set out in those terms.
Other Disclosures
We will not sell or share your data with other third parties, except in the following cases:
- If the law requires it;
- If it is required for any legal proceeding;
- To prove or protect our legal rights; and
- To buyers or potential buyers of this company in the event that we seek to sell the company.
If you follow hyperlinks from our Site to another Site, please note that we are not responsible for and have no control over their privacy policies and practices.
Cookies
The Site sets no analytics or advertising cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel and no third-party tracking script of any kind, on any page. That is why you have never been shown a cookie banner: the only cookies we set are the ones strictly necessary to deliver something you asked for, and those do not require your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
Those cookies are:
- hc_provider_application — remembers how far you have got in a Provider application so you can come back and finish it. Expires after 30 days;
- hc_pending_sign_in — remembers that we have just emailed you a sign-in code, so that we can tell you if it has expired. Expires after an hour; and
- Your sign-in session cookies — keep you signed in once you have an account.
All of them are first-party: they are set by this Site and are not readable by anybody else. We measure how the Provider application form performs by counting the applications in our own database, which is why none of this needs tracking you.
How Long We Store Personal Data
User data will be stored for 12 months.
You will be notified if your data is kept for longer than this period.
Provider Applications That Are Never Claimed
A Provider application is unclaimed until somebody uses the sign-in link to finish it and becomes a Provider. An unclaimed application is kept for 12 months from the last activity on it, and is then deleted outright — name, email address, phone number, business name, postcode and all. "Last activity" means the most recent time the application was added to or changed, so the 12 months run from when you last touched it and not from when you started.
Once an application is claimed it stops being a standalone record and becomes part of your Provider account, which is kept for as long as that account exists.
How We Protect Your Personal Data
While we take all reasonable precautions to ensure that user data is secure and that users are protected, there always remains the risk of harm. The Internet as a whole can be insecure at times and therefore we are unable to guarantee the security of user data beyond what is reasonably practical.
Your Rights as a User
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Right to be informed;
- Right of access;
- Right to rectification;
- Right to erasure;
- Right to restrict processing;
- Right to data portability; and
- Right to object.
Children
We do not knowingly collect or use personal data from children under 16 years of age. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 16 years of age, the personal data will be deleted as soon as possible. If a child under 16 years of age has provided us with personal data their parent or guardian may contact our data protection officer.
How to Access, Modify, Delete, or Challenge the Data Collected
If you would like to know if we have collected your personal data, how we have used your personal data, if we have disclosed your personal data and to who we disclosed your personal data, if you would like your data to be deleted or modified in any way, or if you would like to exercise any of your other rights under the GDPR, please contact our data protection officer here:

We recommend that our users periodically review our Privacy Policy to ensure that they are notified of any updates. If necessary, we may notify users by email of changes to this Privacy Policy.
